Although aware that consumers favor black skinny jeans slit at the knees, Seven For All Mankind’s designers are focusing on denim-related sportswear. This jumpsuit, which is washed in a light blue tint and enhanced with crisscross straps on the back, retails for $250.
J Brand is trying to entice shoppers with a capsule collection that is slated to drop at retail every month starting in December. Reflecting a more experimental style, the selection includes $178 bleached shorts with a high rise and extended hem.
With a growing business in Europe, perhaps boosted by its marketing affiliation with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Paige Denim is pushing a more fashion-conscious look. It’s translating the trend for cropped flares to leather for the first time. The stretch black leather style retails for $1,075.
Extending its relationship with Adriano Goldschmied, who designed its Indigo Move collection launching this fall, Mavi Jeans asked the denim guru to consult on a few pieces for its spring 2017 collection. One is a $138 jean jacket with details such as a rose print drawn by a laser machine and frayed hems on the sleeves.
Big Star is also capitalizing on the festival season with its group of Cloud 9 cutoffs that were sewn from men’s jeans and washed in hues that evoke a desert landscape. The most popular was the $88 style in the California Sunset ombre wash with needle stitching to give a repaired look.
The long, lean look was popular for jackets as it facilitated layering. Calvin Klein Jeans interpreted the trend in a $168 belted trench coat made of a Tencel-denim blend.
Katty Xiomara returned to Project Womens after an 18-month absence. It discovered that buyers preferred clothing with special details and mixed patterns. For instance, on its $395 white waffle-textured cotton-silk shirtdress, red lace peeks out from under the sleeves and the neckline is trimmed with lace on one side and a small Peter Pan collar on the other.
Miami-based Peony integrated fashion details such as digital prints of slubby stripes on $98 leggings and cutouts on $56 sports bras.
Pendleton gave its unique twist to long, lean outerwear with a $148 open-front vest in its distinguishable jacquard pattern. The tan and slate blue pattern is woven out of a mix of cotton, silk and rayon for a soft hand.
Johnny Was appealed to buyers with easy-to-wear pieces that have been embroidered and garment-dyed. Here, an embroidered tunic in rayon georgette wholesales for $104 and printed palazzo pants in the same material wholesale for $98.
Avantgar Denim presented the trend for vintage denim in a polished form. Made in Italy and wholesaling for $150, its gauzy cotton-Lyocell skirt was digitally printed with images of weathered indigo patches.
Floral prints usually do well for spring. Karen Kane used a colorful border print on a $158 V-neck shift that flatters women of different sizes.

Wholesaling for $65, the piece was part of his minimal collection on display in the Emerging Designer Showcase at the Las Vegas Convention Center. In business for five years, he said he wants his customer to feel free. “In the fashion industry, beauty hurts. I want people to feel comfortable in my clothes,” he said.
Moon River advanced the trend for a black-and-white palette with lace-up ties. Its ivory tunic dress printed with black arrow prints wholesales for $31.
BCBGeneration hit all the major trends in a youthful collection that doesn’t empty the wallet. In its spring line-up, it combined shirting stripes with off-the-shoulder silhouettes and long, lean jackets cut from stretch ponte. The retail prices for the pieces on display run between $68 and $118.
